I can only echo Austin English's heartfelt and eloquent memory of Dylan Williams. Dylan was a wonderful publisher, a talented artist, a devoted scholar of comics, and simply a great person. In short, he was tremendously gifted, and he used all of his gifts to pursue what he loved. I feel lucky to have known him.

"Heads on Poles" is a show of sculptures that treat the theme of severed heads on display. Curated by Paul Nudd and Scott Wolniak, it runs from January 14 to February 9 at Western Exhibitions in Chicago. More info here.

While I do not have a sculpture in the exhibit, I did contribute these two images to an accompanying artists' booklet. Other participants include such luminaries as Onsmith, Lilli Carre, and Bruno Richard.

I have a piece in the forthcoming anthology Abstract Comics, published by Fantagraphics and edited by Andrei Molotiu. A portion of my art can be seen at the top left corner of the back cover of the book.

The anthology should be available later this month. As well, a very interesting blog devoted to abstract comics has been created, and features work by many of the book's contributors.

Two lithographs. The first one is somewhat clotted and heavy--too many competing layers of color. I prefer the second version, with two layers of color; unfortunately, I printed it as an afterthought, and there's only this one.

The shiny/metallic surface on the second print is the result of brushing powdered pigment on the still-tacky ink.

My friend Siobhan has been making small acrylic paintings of roosters for the past year or so. She is closing in on fifty of them, with more to come. They are for sale at her etsy site at very reasonable prices.
